California Gift Show Introduces New Layout And Lively Showfloor Presentation Space

White Plains, NY – Renowned for embodying the creative, trend-forward and uniquely West Coast spirit that defines Los Angeles, the California Gift Show will unveil a “lifestyle-inspired” layout and a new showfloor venue for complimentary programs called “The Platform.” Set against a backdrop of extraordinary beaches and an exciting new downtown, the Show will attract 22,000 buyers and feature 1,200 exhibitors of the gift industry’s latest creations, January 18-21, 2008, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

This winter, the Show’s 10 product divisions – At Home; Boutique; EX*TRACTS; Fashion Accessories; Gifts, Etc.; Jewelry (Cash & Carry); LA Contemporary; Resort, Souvenir & Licensing; Stationery & More; and World Style – will be presented exclusively in the South and Kentia Halls. Benefits of the new layout will include ease of shopping the Show, more efficient flow of traffic and synergies between adjacent categories for integrated lifestyle merchandising.

The new floor plan also will offer unparalleled access to the event’s entire product selection, which includes representation from more than 40 countries and nearly 300 first-time participants. Handcrafted, eco-friendly and fair-trade items will highlight the winter 2008 collections. Of note, participating countries include Austria, Botswana, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Mali, Mexico, Nepal, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, Taiwan, Thailand the United Kingdom and Vietnam.

Show highlights also will include “The Platform,” an all-new presentation space providing an exciting showfloor venue for programming. The Platform’s line-up will include an “LA Trend Report” featuring a cutting-edge trend panel with Liezel Munez-Gunn, West Coast editor of the O List, and five of LA’s leading retailers. In addition, a daily live “Fashion Show and Product Theater” will complement informational sessions on boosting sales, finding and retaining staff, gift baskets and visual merchandising. For the first time, all programs will be offered on a complimentary basis to show participants.

On Saturday evening, a “Backlot Hollywood” party will provide a fun ‘wrap’ to the day, onsite immediately following the Show at 6:00pm. Additional program and event information will be available online as of November 1, 2008.
