Elm Avenue Greenhouses opening gift shopBy Carie CanterburyCanonCityDailyRecord.com

The Elm Avenue Greenhouses at 1445 Walnut St. is ready to kickoff the spring and summer months when it opens again for the season bright and early Monday morning.

This year, however, owners Ray and Vicky Lippis and daughter Heather Lippis have a brand new addition to the flowers, plants and gardening supplies and accessories they have offered the community for 25 years.

The Gift Shop at Elm Avenue Greenhouses, an extension of the business, will offer solar roasted, specialty coffees and a wide variety of unique home, garden and patio décor. Inside, customers will see plenty of colorful garden gnomes, owls and toadstools.

The shop offers fashionable stiletto planters; “garden diva” picks and birdfeeders; flame pots; candles; chocolates; and sling-gardening aprons. It soon will feature a gourmet line of foods, gift baskets and more.

“We’re after unique things,” Heather said. Customers can sit at the counter and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee or purchase a bag of coffee beans to take with them.
