Four-year-old co-designs Moonglow’s Harper Bracelet

With her glowing personality and expressive style, quadruple “rainbow baby” Harper McGowan is shining a new prism of light on Moonglow’s Harper Bracelet, and honoring rainbow babies, recognizing the often silenced heart break of child loss and celebrating Rainbow Mommies everywhere.

Moonglow is jewelry featuring a picture of the moon from the date of your choice. Thoughtfully handcrafted in North America, each Moonglow piece is as unique as the wearer, capturing a special moment in time.

The new Harper Bracelet was co-designed by then four-year-old Harper McGowan (now five), daughter of Tara McGowan, director of sales for Moonglow, who deeply and personally understands the heft of its significance, having endured four miscarriages before welcoming Harper into the world. Like many other families, the McGowans silently endured their losses, but have always received tremendous support from the Moonglow family.

The budding recognition of rainbow babies — defined as “a baby born subsequent to a miscarriage, stillbirth or death of an infant from natural causes” — and growing support of rainbow families does not end at Moonglow. More and more families are openly expressing the mixed emotions of grief and joy that is the rainbow baby miracle.

The new Harper Bracelet design was inspired by the original drawings of Harper, a rainbow baby herself, who was four years old when she first shared her bracelet drawings with Aurelie Dudziak, co-founder and creative director of Moonglow Jewelry. Aurelie drew inspiration from Harper’s colorful designs to create a functional piece of jewelry to be coveted by adults for years and to embolden rainbow families everywhere.

Moonglow is donating a portion of all rainbow bracelet sales to a nonprofit organization (to be determined soon) in support of rainbow families—to help bring light to their stories and raise awareness of child loss.

“It is a natural fit for Moonglow to connect the Harper Bracelet with a Rainbow Baby organization in support of other families that have endured great losses,” McGowan said. “Moonglow is perfect for everyone, because literally everyone has significant dates to honor. It’s also perfect for someone like me that has secret dates. Secret dates to honor in such a unique way that no one has to know what they represent, they just see the beautiful jewelry. Jewelry that tells my story. Something I can hold close to my heart, always.”

The Harper Bracelet features a 14k gold-plated band with a stainless-steel base, beaded with multicolor 4mm glass seed beads and 6mm crystal beads. It is available now at participating retailers nationwide it can be pre ordered at www.moonglow.com for a late August release.
