This weekend I can be found in Atlanta at the International Home and Gift Show. This is a semi-annual event I attend in an effort to find the merchandise I offer at Hodgepodge.

When I tell folks where I’m headed and what I’ll be doing, the response is often something to the effect of “Oh! I’d love to do that!” or “That must be so much fun!” Well, let me set the record straight — they are right, it is fun, but it is also an incredible amount of work.

The Americasmart is located in the center of downtown Atlanta. It’s comprised of three buildings, 23, 18 and 15 stories high, which span three city blocks. I do not even pretend that I need to see every showroom or temporary display, but I do need to plan carefully to make the most efficient use of my limited time. By the end of the weekend, my hips will be killing me from the walking, especially after adding the weight of heavy catalogs.
