PMC welcomes International Pavillion to Showroom Collection

SEATTLE – Pacific Market Center, the leading permanent wholesale market on the west coast, announces the latest addition to its collection of permanent showrooms, the International Pavilion, a shared showroom representing high quality home décor and gifts from a diverse group of international and fair trade sources. This boutique-style space will feature products from various participating companies including Sol Fair Trade, Matur Suksema, Paisley Imports, Rwanda Gift Baskets and El Quetzal.

“The first of its kind on the west coast, the International Pavilion will offer buyers the opportunity to explore exquisitely made products from around the world all in one location,” said Lisa Goodman, marketing director for Pacific Market Center. “We are excited to welcome these new companies to the building and are proud to support each of their individual missions to benefit their communities and promote responsible business practices.”

Sol Fair Trade showcases a wide variety of Brazilian handcrafts ranging from contemporary to traditional. All of Sol Fair Trade products are made with three essential qualities in mind – attractive quality, produced and marketed with social integrity and made from ecologically sustainable materials. Sol Fair Trade’s principle purpose is to connect Brazilian artisans and their products with the North American consumer, providing a platform for exposure of the Brazilian culture and hand crafted art. Sol Fair Trade’s mission is to promote economic development and stability to poor and rural communities in Brazil.

Matur Suksema, a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Co-op America, imports unique high quality items, predominantly from Indonesia, including hand beaded baskets, woven baskets, cow-hide lamps, Celadon animal themed teapots, theater masks, wood carvings, small accent furniture pieces and more.

Showcasing India’s finest fabrics, designs and texture, Paisley Imports provides authentic home décor to Pacific MarketCenter. Paisley Imports products are produced locally in Rajasthan, Kolkata, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. By keeping production local, Paisley Imports creates employment opportunities and revenue for local communities while also creating exposure of Indian culture and craft work. In production of all Paisley Imports products, labor conditions are safe and wages are fair.

Purchased directly from Rwandan weavers, The Rwanda Basket Company carries a wide variety of handmade baskets with the profit going back to impoverished women in Rwanda. Rwanda Basket Company brings products targeted towards socially-minded consumers looking for handmade, quality products to Pacific Market Center. El Quetzal a non-profit member of the Fair Trade Federation, has been supporting marginalized women in Guatemala since 1997 and offers three fairly traded product lines including woven fabrics, beaded work and recycled paper products, all made by Guatemalan artisans. El Quetzal purchases its products directly from local co-operatives, and in addition to providing work and income for rural artisans it supports indigenous projects for expanding opportunities in their communities.

Located at suite 595 at Pacific Market Center, the International Pavilion will be open to buyers during shows and by appointment. For a full list of product lines featured in the new showroom and for more information, visitwww.pacificmarketcenter.com
