Iota Stationery Essentials Unveils 2008 Collection

Basalt, Colo. – Iota is pleased to announce its brand spanking new collection for 2008! Nine signature iota patterns will adorn paper goods including folded notecards, boxed notecard sets, gift wrap, journals, gift tags and notebooks. For the first time, iota will offer organizational items for home or office — a selection of stylish pocket folders and file folders in existing iota designs. These new iota products will debut in January at key regional tradeshows starting with the Portland Gift & Accessories Show and many others around the country.

New Patterns

This season’s magical nine represent an eclectic mix of inspiration from iota owner and designer Kelly Alford. Stirred by aerial views as well as everyday objects, the designs feature inventive and playful geometric forms — the cornerstone of iota’s fresh aesthetic — and an always vibrant color palette.

“The 2008 collection was a dream to create — these nine new patterns come from a well of personal experience and everyday inspiration coupled with one of the best color palettes we’ve ever offered,” says Alford. “While I do follow color trends, the subjects in this year’s line evolved from a very organic design process, as they always do,” she continues. “In addition to the new patterns, we are very excited to offer organizational products for the first time — a logical extension of iota’s existing wholesale stationery line.”

Taking cues from the animal kingdom, Peacock Flower and Rainbow Trout infuse the clever use of plumage and scales, respectively. Fashionable Houndstooth intelligently mimics today’s trend-setting fabric. Clean Laundry imagines a stack of freshly pressed shirts, while Pomegranate colorfully plays with this healthiest of fruits. Vermont Fields reveals an abstract view of the rolling New England landscape. Visually witty, Links and Wavy employ smart geometric compositions that really catch the eye. And Buttons captures the fun chaos of a favorite sewing drawer.

New Products

In addition to iota’s stationery line-up, the company will offer pocket folders and file folders for the first time with the 2008 release. For home or office, pocket folders will be sold as a set of three in existing patterns (Kaleidescope, Wild Rose and Sadye) and include easy peel & stick custom labels. File folders will come in a set of six, also in the previous existing patterns mentioned, as well as Bermuda Shorts, Beach Towel and Tumbleweed with peel & stick custom tab labels.

Licensing

In its transition from sole stationery design to wide-ranging surface design, iota promotes all new 2008 patterns for licensing on various surfaces. The firm already enjoys licensing its designs on fabric, leather goods, paper wares and ceramics. Current licensing partners include Robert Kaufman Fabrics, Alicia Klein, Paperproducts Design, American Greetings and Target Corporation.

Founded in 2003 by designer Kelly Alford, iota is named after the ninth letter of the Greek alphabet for its simple, yet powerful character. As a designer of stationery essentials, iota is distinguished by inventive and playful designs, bold colors and affordable price points. Iota’s stationery collections can be found in over 1,600 stores throughout the US and internationally. Now, as a surface designer, iota licenses these popular patterns on textiles, leather and other retail goods.
