New gift shop in Scituate HarborBy Dick TrustPatriotLedger.com

Scituate – Nancy Levanchy has brought a little Joye to Scituate Harbor. Her new gift shop at 196 Front St. features a twist in the name and also in its inventory.

“Joy is my favorite word, and I wanted a single-syllable word for the store and that was the first name I came up with,” Levanchy said. “When we put the ‘e’ on the end, it just artistically looked better. … It’s my little twist on a really good, happy little word. Hopefully it will give the same emotion to people before they walk in.”

What she offers on her shelves, walls and tables in the 400-square-foot establishment is another story with a twist.

“People ask me what kind of theme the store has,” said Levanchy, who has lived most of her life in Scituate. “Well, it kind of started out as a garden-home decor store. I wanted to have little pieces of furniture, which I have, and lamps, pillows, throws (and) nice gift items that are reasonably priced.”

Located on the harbor, with the Quarterdeck gift shop on one side and T.K. O’Malley’s restaurant on the other, the store was previously known as “Artifacts” and owned by Scituate resident Susan Nalband. When Nalband offered the store for sale early this year, Levanchy jumped at the chance to buy it.
