Jumping Jack Press Unveils New Pop-Up Book; 2008 Easter Gift Book Builds on 2007 Launches

Mason, OH – Jumping Jack Press, the pop-up book imprint from Up With Paper, announced that it will be releasing an Easter-themed pop-up book in 2008, Kirby the Easter Dog.

The book will be available to retail in January, and will have a suggested retail price of $14.99. The 6.25″ square book features seven amazing spreads, including fun and fanciful designs, ingenious pop-ups, and intricate embellishments. The book also includes an interactive “count the hidden eggs” feature to encourage repeat readings. The book will be available as an individual item, and also as part of an Easter program from Up With Paper that also includes 36 total pop-up Treasures cards in six designs.

Kirby the Easter Dog follows the imprint’s first two releases, Halloween at the Zoo and Christmas at the Zoo, which arrived at retail in September, 2007. The book features the creative talents of illustrator Holli Conger and engineer Renee Jablow, bringing to life a story concepted and written by Jumping Jack Press President, George White, and designed by Jumping Jack Press Creative Director Monika Brandrup and Engineer Grace Co. Conger’s whimsical style has previously been seen in a number of books, greeting cards, and other products in the specialty market, while Jablow brings a wealth of pop-up experience to the book.

Kirby the Easter Dog features White’s own black Labrador retriever, Kirby, who hides Easter eggs for all the animals on a magical farm each year. From the first page, which features an amazing stable filled with sleeping horses and cows in their nightcaps, readers will be intrigued to find where Kirby hides all the eggs, and how the embellishments and engineering will enhance each scene. A goat with a spyglass, a cow with a pitchfork, and a bull with a wheelbarrow are all looking for eggs—and fun—on the farm.

“The reception among retailers for our first two books has been overwhelmingly positive—and so gratifying,” said White. “We have found a great niche with our high-end pop-up books—just as Up With Paper has done with its innovative pop-up cards. This book is another step in the development of a very strong imprint—and more titles are in the works.”

Originally founded as PopShots, Inc., in 1978, Up With Paper has been recognized for design excellence more than 50 times with the International Greeting Card Association’s highest honor, the “LOUIE” award, including the “Card of the Year” LOUIE Award in 2005 for the company’s first Tres Panache design. Up With Paper’s Treasures, Panoramics and Tres Panachelines of pop-up greeting cards, as well as the company’s Tres Panache Imprintables, Trinkets and Tres Petites gift enclosures, Travel Globes, and Pop-Up Snow Globe Greetings are available in thousands of specialty retail outlets throughout the United States and around the world, and may be seen on the company’s website at upwithpaper.com. Spreads from books created by the company’s pop-up book imprint, Jumping Jack Press, may be viewed on the imprint’s website at jumpingjackpress.com.
