Lavender Lime featured in Stitches-in-Time exhibitBy Samantha SerumClevelandBanner.com

The quilts of Lavender Lime Quilting and Creative Sewing Center in Chattanooga will be featured as part of the Stitches-in-Time exhibit at the Museum Center at Five Points March 18 to 22.

The quilts displayed are made by different quilters, but each was created with a pattern from “Sweet and Simple With a Lime Twist” or “And the Greatest of These is Love.” The first book was written by shop owner Kathy Skomp. The second, which will be released in April, was written by Skomp and Mary Keasler of Cleveland.

“Sweet and Simple With a Lime Twist” features one pattern that gives a 3-D effect with fabric placement.

The idea for the book and pattern came to Skomp as she watched customers at Lavender Lime struggle with fabric selection, then often abandon quilt projects because they are too time consuming. The “Sweet and Simple” pattern is easy, requires only a couple of fabric choices, though a quilter could also choose to use more. “Watching their struggle, I thought, ‘What if I come up with a pattern that looked artsy, but had less fabric decisions,” said Skomp.
