Local Seasonal Gift Shop Sees Success
Fairbanks, AK – Combine “ornament” and “tree” and you get The Ornamentry.
That’s the name of a seasonal gift shop spread throughout a two-story house at 801 Pioneer Road, tucked quietly in a subdivision between the Fairbanks North Star Borough offices and the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.
Judy Grahek started the business in 1987, partly because she wanted a venue for her crafts. For the first 10 years she sold items off her dining room table, during which time Grahek “begged five friends” to contribute their crafts. The more people brought things, the more word got around.

Anne Harrill founded Océanne, in part, to regain her voice after leaving her home in France.
