Los Gatos dress shop is putting on the Rix
The right clothes can have a profound effect on the way a woman feels, and no one knows that better than Allison Rix.
Clothes not only made her feel good, they saved her.
Rix, a stylist and aspiring fashion designer, had dreams of launching her own line ever since she started designing clothes several ago. But life kept happening and those plans kept getting put on hold.
“I’ve been styling my dresses for 10 years and have always wanted to do it, then had children and everything else and it just got pushed out,” said Rix, a Los Gatos resident.
Then two years ago, as she was finally ready to launch her line, tragedy struck. On Sept. 9, 2008, as Rix was driving with her daughter Erica, who was 5 at the time, Erica tossed the end of a jump rope out the window to watch it flutter in the wind. The rope caught in the car’s axle and a loop tightened around Erica’s wrist, severing her hand.
Overnight, Rix’s life and focus changed.
