Merchants plan holiday walk shopping event
The Villages — Consumers might have sensed some excitement in the air Monday as they strolled throughout Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.
Shopkeepers and restaurateurs throughout The Villages’ town center were preparing for Wednesday evening’s Holiday Walk Around Sumter Landing shopping event.
“We’re going to be very festive,” Sally Lott, owner of the Frivolous Soles specialty shoe store, promised guests as she prepared for Wednesday’s event. “We’re going to have refreshments. It’s going to be a fun evening because we personally serve our customers.”
Many of the town center’s retailers and restaurants are planning a variety of holiday fun from 5 to 9 p.m., said Ellen Harcourt, who volunteered to coordinate the evening’s activities in addition to her job as manager at the Purple Pig specialty gift store.
Harcourt invited some special guests to join the fun.
“Santa Claus and his elf will be roving around, but they’ll be based here at the Purple Pig,” Harcourt said.
