Gallerist Educates on the True Value of Art at Las Vegas Design Center ‘First Friday’ Event May 1

Las Vegas — Did you know that art can routinely outperform real estate, the stock market and other traditional forms of investment? That will be the focus of Naomi Arin of Naomi Arin Contemporary Art, Friday, May 1, as part of First Friday at Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas-based gallerist and art advisor will take the audience through the ABC’s of collecting art as a personal or corporate investment strategy. Interior designers and collectors attending Arin’s talk will learn more about how and why a well-chosen art collection can actually be a dependable investment. Arin will share insights on collecting art on both a personal and corporate level.

“In the face of the tragic economic circumstances, art has really been the last bastion of hope,” says Arin. “People in the art world are unwilling to devalue master works of art and the prices have remained fantastically solid for the good works.”

An art collector for more than 25 years, Arin recently quit practicing law to focus solely on the business of art. “I’ve been extremely fortunate in my chosen path,” she says. Her extensive experience will help those interested in collecting art establish their focus, devise a budget and determine a starting point.

Topics of the discussion also include:

  • How to ensure that what you are buying is the best quality work you (or your client) can possibly afford
  • How designers can be heroes by fulfilling clients’ goals. The designer not only makes a house a beautiful, but also helps clients invest in quality art.
  • How to challenge and redefine the notions of what is contemporary.
  • How to evaluate art.
  • How to obtain something that you or your client can enjoy for decades that may also be an asset.
  • How to make better decisions for clients with regard to their environments.

First Friday at Las Vegas Design Center is a unique, not-to-be missed shopping day for local and out-of-market design professionals. The monthly event features educational opportunities, showroom specials, hospitality and other exclusive offerings for the trade.

Arin will speak from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 1 in C-184 at World Market Center Las Vegas, 495 South Grand Central Parkway. The day will be “Derby-themed” in recognition of the 135th Kentucky Derby. Attendees are invited to enjoy a Southern brunch with traditional derby delicacies such as smoked-sausage-stuffed mushrooms, Kentucky creamed ham, Kentucky bourbon pecan pie, Kentucky bourbon balls and specialty-themed cocktails.
