New store openings keep Dallas area a major retail hub
Dallas, TX – This is the first year in some time when no new malls or major shopping centers have opened in North Texas, but shopping here is anything but stagnant.
While the economic recovery inches along, Dallas-Fort Worth malls and shopping centers – which make this one of the largest retail hubs in the nation – are attracting new stores in time for the all-important holiday season.
“Because we weren’t as affected during the recession as other areas, national retailers are expanding here,” said Jack Breard, president of UCR Urban, a real estate brokerage firm that represents Urban Outfitters and other retailers in the area.
From Lilli London in the West Village and Cabana on Lovers Lane to the Flip Flop Shops at Galleria Dallas and surfing-to-snowboarding youth apparel seller Billabong at NorthPark Center, Dallas shoppers are being introduced to new places to find holiday gifts.
Lilli London, affiliated with U.K. brand Charli London and making its U.S. debut here, has women’s clothing that morphs for any occasion. Flip Flop Shops is a fun shopping experience not only because it adds beach smells to the air, but also because it stocks a depth of brands and sizes year-round.
