PetSmart among fastest-growing companies on Top 100 Retailers list
Pet products are hot, and PetSmart’s sales growth in 2017 is further proof of that.
The Phoenix-based pet product chain had $7.667 billion in U.S. sales in 2017 to place 58th on the National Retail Federation’s Top 100 Retailers of 2018 list.
What is more impressive is the company’s 28.1% rate of growth from the previous year, third highest on the entire list. Only Bass Pro (94%) and Amazon (45.2%) were higher.
Petco Animal Supplies also made the top 100, coming in the final spot with $3.861 billion in sales. It had a much more modest rate of growth, at 2.3%, than PetSmart, however.
Walmart was far and away the top grosser on the list with nearly $363 billion in U.S. sales. Kroger was second at $110.2 billion. Amazon, at $85.7 billion, Costco ($85 billion) and The Home Depot ($81.4 billion) rounded out the top five.
NRF’s top 100 list includes a wide range of companies, including restaurant chains, gas stations and convenience stores.
