Q-C Small Businesses Hope for a Saturday Boost
Moline, IA – Often lost in the shadows of the big box stores and the Black Friday frenzy, many Quad-City small business owners hope shoppers will remember them on Small Business Saturday.
Snuggled between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is again being promoted nationwide as Small Business Saturday. Launched in 2010 by American Express, the day was created to draw more customers to small business owners.
“In just three years, Small Business Saturday went from an idea to help small business find more customers to a permanent fixture on the holiday shopping calendar,” Susan Sobbott, president of American Express OPEN, said in a news release. Citing research conducted by American Express and the National Federation of Independent Businesses, she added “We are seeing the small business community take ownership of the day and make it their own.”
