Bustle & Flow: Shoppers fill stores for sales and returns after holiday
Bearing gift cards and Christmas money — or that gift that just wasn’t quite right — thousands of shoppers were back in the stores the day after Christmas.
Shoppers on Sunday at the South Plains Mall said they made it out of their homes hoping to find good deals, spend Christmas money and return a few gifts after a day of Christmas celebrations.
The mall opened four hours early Sunday — 8 a.m. — as stores hoped to attract shoppers to spend their Christmas stockpiles on post-holiday sales, said South Plains Mall spokeswoman Beth Bridges. Some stores had even earlier Sunday hours to entice shoppers from their homes.
Sisters Erica and Vicky Smithee, sitting on a mall bench with a couple of soft pretzels, were taking a break from an afternoon of shopping Sunday at the mall.
“We were bored at home, and we expected to find lots of stuff on sale,” Vicky said.
