Sunny Side Up moves to bigger locationBy John HendersonRockyMountTelegram.com

Kathy Perkins and daughter Lori Bostic get a kick out of watching customers walk into their gift shop and smile.

They said their “whimsical, fun” Sunny Side Up store, with pastel colors and assorted novelty items, eventually makes customers giggle.

“It never fails,” Bostic said.

They’ve apparently struck a chord with Rocky Mount residents, outgrowing their previous location at 833 Country Club Road, where they only opened last November.

This week, they reopened in a larger space at 2917 Zebulon Road in the Shoppes at Stoney Creek. The 500 extra square feet of space has allowed them to add 200 items to their upscale gift line.

“Rocky Mount has been very kind to us, and we needed more space,” Perkins said.

Perkins said their store offers one-stop shopping.

“You can come here for a gift for your grandma, or you can come here for a gift for girls’ night out,” Perkins said.

The store offers upscale lines that aren’t sold anywhere in the city, Bostic said. She said they make sure of that, having the vendors who deliver products to their store check the zip codes of other stores where they deliver products in the city.

“We’re very, very particular about the lines we bring in,” Bostic said. “We don’t want it in this store if somebody else has it in Rocky Mount.”
