Textillery Goes Green: New Bamboo Collection Headlines High Point Fall 2007 Market Designs

Bloomington, IN – Woven accents leader Textillery Weavers will showcase a new collection of throws crafted from environmentally sustainable bamboo yarns during the October 2007 High Point Furniture Market. Capitalizing on the many unique properties of bamboo fiber, including its durability and renowned soft, smooth characteristics, these thick, luxurious and washable throws will be on display in the Textillery showroom – International Home Furnishings Center – Design Center, D408.

“Bamboo yarn is a wonderful and versatile medium to work with,” explains Judith Rose, head designer, Textillery. “It’s light and strong, incredibly soft and able to take a variety of dye colors quite well. So, it has provided the perfect resource to create a lovely collection of plush new designs in colors that certainly respond to today’s design directions. Most important, it’s one of the most sustainable textile fibers on the market today, which allows us to respond to increased customer demand for environmentally conscious design while also contributing to the corporate responsibility goals we’ve set for our own company.”

Using a boucle weave, Rose has blended 75 % bamboo yarn with 25% acrylic yarn to create the warm, rich designs in the new Bamboo Collection. Available in seven soft color tones, each throw comes with a 2″ fringe. Colors include natural, cashew, spa blue, Dijon gold, paprika red, light tobacco brown and dark Kelley green. The throws are available in a 42″ X 72″ size with a suggested retail of $215 and 52″ x 72″ with a suggested retail of $290.

Bamboo fabric is a natural textile made from the pulp of the bamboo grass. Fast growing, it does not usually need pesticides or herbicides to thrive. Therefore, the plantations can be kept organic and replanted yearly.

Known for color and texture, Textillery offers more than 600 styles and 75 solid colors to choose from in its versatile hand-woven and jacquard woven collections. Designs include checks/houndstooth, jacquard, multi-texture, pinstripe, plaids, solids and stripe designs. While many designs are woven in rayon chenille, Textillery has added rayon straight yarns, cotton, acrylic, and linen yarns to the collection over the years. Many throws can be hand-washed or machine-washed. All designs are woven in the United States, and all hand-woven items in the line are made exclusively in Textillery’s Bloomington, Indiana studio.
