Three Top Lifestyle Authors to Appear at NY NOW

Three best-selling authors, representing a variety of lifestyle genres including food, nature and humor, will be making personal appearances at the summer 2013 NY NOW®, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), August 17-21, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. These events, which include readings, discussions and book signings are presented in partnership with Workman Publishing.

“All three of these popular authors have new books coming out, and we’re pleased that NY NOW attendees and exhibitors will be among the first to have access to copies,” said Christian Falkenberg, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president.

Author appearances and signings will take place on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (August 18-20), from 9:00AM – 9:45AM, at the Javits Center. These ticketed events, which include the purchase of one signed book, include a short presentation and reading by the author, followed by a Q&A session. In all cases, additional titles by the authors also will be available for purchase and signing.

On Sunday, August 18, attendees can meet Susan Spungen, a cook, food stylist, recipe developer, editor, author and culinary consultant. Her latest book, What’s a Hostess To Do? Including 313 Ideas and Inspirations for Effortless Entertaining and 121 Recipes for Spectacular Party Food, will be published by Artisan Books in May 2013. Her two other best-sellers, Recipes: A Collection for the Modern Cook andMartha Stewart’s Hors d’Oeuvres Handbook, also will be available for purchase and signing. Tickets are $17.95 each, and include a signed copy of What’s a Hostess to Do?

Kathryn Petras, humorist, author of Don’t Forget to Sing In the Lifeboats, and co-author of the national bestselling “Stupidest” series, including the top bestselling black and white page-a-day calendar, The 365 Stupidest Things Ever Said, will appear on Monday, August 19. Petras’ most recent book, Don’t Forget to Sing In the Lifeboats, includes inspirational stories about people who’ve graduated from the school of hard knocks, yet kept a sense of humor. Tickets are $8.95 each, and include a signed copy of Don’t Forget to Sing In the Lifeboats.

On Tuesday, August 20, the featured author will be Jennifer S. Holland, senior writer for National Geographic magazine and author of Unlikely Loves, the sequel to her best-selling Unlikely Friendships. Available in October 2013, Unlikely Loves documents heartwarming tales of animals who, with nothing else in common, bond in the most unexpected ways. Tickets are $13.95 each, and include a signed copy ofUnlikely Friendships.

NY NOW, the Market for Home & Lifestyle will run Saturday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94. NY NOW’s four comprehensive collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE, HANDMADE and NEW! – will encompass 100,000 products in 400+ product categories.
