Windsor landmark for sale, to the right buyerBy Randy Barber9News.com

Windsor – A well-known business on Main Street is on the market, but the owners say they’re only interested in selling if they find a buyer who will make their labor of love better.

Jan and Jerry Steele founded the House of Windsor coffee and gift shop at 430 Main Street about three years ago after retiring.

“Jerry used to build custom homes. I was a realtor,” Jan Steele explained.

While neither had experience in the retail or service industries, they were able to build a successful business while falling in love with the community.

“We said we feel more at home here after three months than we did after 20 years of where we came from,” Jan Steele said.

That is why it has come as such a surprise that the couple is thinking about selling the business.

“It would definitely be a void in the community. It would definitely be a big void,” customer Marika Ujvari said.

“I can’t imagine not being here. I can’t imagine this place not being a part of my life,” another customer, Kim Johnston said.

While the Steeles still love Windsor and their shop, they are having a tough time juggling all the time it takes to keep the business running and deal with Jan’s health.

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s one of the reasons we have decided to look for a buyer,” Jan Steele said.
