Burwood village has emerged as a dynamic shopping strip that offers residents a special blend of life’s necessities and boutique luxuries. This hub of activity has grown quickly over the past few years, with new retailers constantly popping up.

Despite the bustle of the strip and the constant rhythm of the No. 75 tram, Burwood village is surprisingly serene. Its tree-lined streets offer benches every few shops, retirees stroll along the street to the colourful fruit market and hip young mums browse the boutique windows and then settle in for a coffee at Santucci’s.

Several initiatives by the council, such as the Burwood Village Autumn Festival this month, have seen the clientele grow from locals to those who cross town to visit destinations such as the trendy gift shop Zinc. But it’s not just the new businesses that are catching shoppers’ eyes, decades-old bakeries and antique shops also draw the crowds.
