Vienna merchants have a message for last-minute Christmas shoppers: find that perfect gift here.

Employees at several local businesses said though sales have been slower this year, they often see an increase in customers right before the holidays, as people search out something special for that hard-to-buy-for person on their list. And with unique gifts and personalized attention, Vienna shops may be just the place to look.

“If you are at a loss for a gift for a particular person, we will walk you through the entire store and find something in your price range,” said Peggy James, owner of the Artful Gift Shop on Church Street.

James sells handmade and locally-made art and gifts in her shop. The small, colorful store was bustling with customers Wednesday afternoon. Jewelry, bags and bright children’s sweaters were among the items catching attention.

“We’ve got everything – cards and hostess gifts, jewelry, hats and purses, painted glassware, lots of stuff that smells really good. If you’re looking for something that’s totally unique for someone, this is a great place to come,” James said.
