Four New Businesses Offer Local Flair To ShoppersBy Lucian McCartySaratogian.com

MILTON — Looking for that perfect gift for Mother’s Day? Kate Fitzpatrick, owner of Piccadilly Boutique in Milton, thinks she has just the right thing.

“My goal is to have the perfect gift for everyone,” she said. Her store opened in mid-April at 404 Rowland St., and she has thrust herself into stocking her shelves with “little trinkets to beautiful wedding gifts and everything in-between.”

Fitzpatrick said she built up her business skills at her family’s store, Plaza Wine and Spirits, but that she and her mother had always wanted to open their own gift shop.

“I’m a shopper,” she said. “Now I can shop for the kind of items I love best, and offer them to the same customer base I have grown to love during my years at the wine shop — right here in the same building.”

The shop has a gardening section, cookbooks, kitchenware and baby and bridal gifts, while also building up a selection of local jewelry, décor and foods.

“There will always be room for more local talent to display their wares,” she said. “We’re putting our focus on locally made products, but we also feature a lot of national brands.”
