Mother-daughter team opens The Looking GlassBy Latala PayneGoDanRiver.com

Specializing in unique gift baskets, gourmet items and other personal gifts, The Looking Glass has migrated from an online-only interface to a local shop around the corner. Located at 350 B Kings Highway in Eden, the store had its official grand opening ceremony Thursday evening.

Mayor John Grogan and Mayor Pro Tem Wayne Tuggle came out to celebrate the occasion and cut the ribbon. Jean Ann Wood and Lou Trollinger of the Eden Chamber of Commerce were also on hand to welcome the store into the city’s business ranks.

Amy McCaslin and Sarah Lemons run the store together as a mother and daughter team. While McCaslin concentrates mainly on business, Lemons concentrates on the creative side of things, as well as learning how to operate a business on a daily basis.

Lemons said she’s always had a dream of opening a bakery, but her mother suggested they open up a gift shop. Her ultimate goal is to run a hometown Cracker Barrel, and employ plenty of people from Rockingham County.
