Chautauqua Miniatures, 2 Chixx Gift Shoppe Open New Location
Chautauqua – Next weekend, the holiday season will arrive at the Red Brick Village thanks to Chautauqua Miniatures and 2 Chixx Gift Shoppe.
Sandra Duffee and Heather Johnson, Chautauqua Miniatures and 2 Chixx Gift Shoppe owners, will be holding a ”Winter Wonderland” open house Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15, to celebrate the start of the Christmas season and to show off their new location in Red Brick Village, which is along Route 394, 5031 W. Lake Road, Mayville.
The shop has been in the marketplace for five years, switching locations a few times while operating at Red Brick Village.
”We’ve moved four times, hopefully this is it,” Mrs. Johnson said. ”Each time we’ve moved, we’ve moved to a larger space.”
The long time miniaturists have been open seven years, leaving regular nine-to-five jobs to start new careers.
”I’m working with my best friend, being creative. Working with customers on projects to help them tweak things to their specifications,” Mrs. Johnson said. ”It’s great, being hands on and being creative.”
With two shops in one, more space is a necessity for the owners to give their customers what they want from unique collectibles in the gift shop to dollhouse accessories in Chautauqua Miniatures.
”We have items for all ages, from adult dollhouse collectors to children with a full-line of creative toys that don’t need a computer or batteries,” Mrs. Johnson said. ”We have stuff for collectors to young children.”
