Chickadees retail gift shop opens second location in Mishawaka
Marsha Bolin very fittingly describes herself like a little duck swimming in the water.
On the surface the duck appears to be moving forward, slowly and steadily. Under the water, however, those little duck feet are paddling back and forth like crazy.
If you have ever met Bolin, the longtime owner of Chickadees retail gift shop in South Bend, there is a pretty good chance you agree with the image she paints.
Her bubbly, high-energy personality can be contagious, especially when she is found working inside her new Mishawaka location.
Just last weekend, Bolin opened a store at 1241 E. University Drive, in City Plaza shopping center.
She admits the store is not yet finished; a temporary plastic banner still hangs above the storefront that formerly housed 4-Him men’s boutique, some shelves are still empty, and a number of end-tables and stands are missing price tags.
But Bolin could not wait to locate her eclectic mix of home decor, home furnishings and gift items closer to shoppers from the north side of the area. For years, she has received requests for such a location — not that southsiders should read anything into the site she has selected.
In other words, never fear — Chickadees is not moving to Mishawaka.
