Best Sellers in… Honolulu, Hawaii By Katlyn Murray

Sedona

With soft lighting, soothing spa music, and the scent of candles and incense, Malia Johnson’s boutique, Sedona, draws the attention of shoppers looking for a sensory retail experience. Born in Honolulu, Malia spent time working in retail in New York City and decided that, when she moved back home, she wanted to open a unique gift shop that catered to her interests. Sedona is different from other gift shops in that most of the items in the store cater to New Age aesthetics: crystals, power stone bracelets, and Tibetan singing bowls.

In addition to the vast array of New Age items, Sedona also carries cards and other jewelry pieces for men and women. Sedona staff members receive ongoing training and are knowledgeable about the items carried in the store. For Malia, making sure that people who come into her store have a positive experience is more important than making a sale. She feels that if a customer has a memorable experience in the store or learns something new from the well-educated staff, they will be back for more.
