Catching up with Davidson Lewis, 40 Under 40 Class of 2017

In 2017, Davidson Lewis was part of the inaugural class of the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award. Lewis is the CEO, Eco Brands Group, Makers of Alchemy Goods. The business is focused on reusing a variety of items to great useful gift products that are eco-friendly. We reached out to Lewis to see what has been happening since winning the award.

Since receiving the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award, what amazing new adventures have you undertaken?

We have started upcycling more great waste streams. One is salvaged denim from mills and the other is upholstery vinyl. The denim goes great with our durable bicycle tubes, while the upholstery adds a bunch of color to our line. We have been upcycling bicycle tubes since 2003. So it is nice to have more color available these days since it is very trendy and pops in the stores.

the Highline Insulated 6-Pack Holder keep your favorite brews cold, protected and handy. With a comfy carrying handle and straps to even mount on your bicycle, your brews will travel in style. Made from salvaged denim and upcycled bicycled tubes in the USA with livable wages. The perfect gift for the beer lover in your life.

How has receiving the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award positively impacted you, personally and professionally?

It is great to share with our gift industry clients as they appreciate the magazine and see that as a notable achievement.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Taking on more material waste streams and upcycling them into unique gifts.

What advice can you share for others in this industry about growing a career, business, or network?

I would suggest keeping it clever and simple whenever possible. People love to laugh and be happy when gifted and if the products are simple that makes them a good price point and hopefully easy to manufacture with healthy margins. I would also suggest looking for eco-friendly options whenever possible when sourcing to help the environment and future generations.
