District Dogs expands into retail arena at its new location

District Dogs has opened a new location in Washington D.C. at the Navy Yard development. This pet care brand specializes in daycare for dogs, but has found a way to entice other customers with a retail component as well.

District Dogs’ new location was designed by GTM Architects and will offer the daycare it is known for, along with boarding and spa services  — for customers’ beloved canines.

The new space includes “play areas, private boarding suites, a full-service grooming salon, and a curated retail boutique,” according to District Dogs’ website. “Believe us when we tell you that our newest location is the stuff (dog) dreams are made of. Every aspect of the space was designed to make sure we could offer a fun and safe home-away-from-home for your furry friends. Read on to learn about the amazing features we’re excited to offer!”

District Dogs originally opened in 2014 as a dog walking business. Jacob Hensley, owner, was the only employee at its inception. By 2016, Hensley grew the business by opening a storefront in the Park View neighborhood in Washington D.C. By early 2019, Hensley began working on opening its second store, which is the one now open at the Navy Yard development.

“As we’ve grown, District Dogs’ commitment to excellence has been maintained by a dedicated crew of walkers, attendants, and managers. Our professional and enthusiastic staff is the best at what they do,” Hensley noted on the website.
