Gatherings offers eclectic gift mix
Where can you find a vintage kimono, a stone duck rain gauge, a hand-painted enamel perfume bottle, reams of ribbon, and a 3-D necklace for a bashful boyfriend in which a marriage proposal appears when a string is pulled? These are some of the many items for sale at Gatherings, a new store at 639 Danbury Road.
“The range of items is eclectic,” said owner Karen Steinhaus, a New Canaan resident.
Her store offers a range of jewelry from “costume to semi-precious and sterling,” she said. “I also have carved bone goddess jewelry, made in Bali.”
For the ocean lovers, there are iridescent glass jellyfish and sea horse necklaces.
Ms. Steinhaus said she tries to offer “good price points.” For example, jeweled and beaded watches range from $45 to $55, and linen scarves in pastel “ice cream colors” are $24 each.
