With so many retailers facing similar challenges right now, we encourage you to Share Your Story so we may share your story and help other independent retailers.

Greeting Card from Parcel Island

Located in Philadelphia, Parcel Island is a paper goods and gift boutique that specializes in “witty and expertly crafted printed and paper goods, with the goal of making each recipient smile.” Carley Hussain, owner and creator for Parcel Island explained that its product offerings include greeting cards, art prints, stickers and more.

Carley Hussain (CH) provided us with a look at how the business has operated during the last year. “We have lowered our ordering minimums to $90, and have increased turnaround time to 7-14 business days. These are hard times for many people in our industry, and it is our goal to be flexible and work with businesses to make their ordering process with us as seamless as possible,” she shared.

Additionally, to help in today’s challenging climate, Parcel Island streamlined its ordering process and is now 100% digital. During these difficult times, we understand it is difficult for retailers to order and keep inventory of products in their stores,” Hussain explained. “Retailers can either shop directly through our sales portal on our website, via email or through Faire.com.”

Retail Tip

Merchandise displays are important and Hussain suggested that retailers should bundle by a category or theme. “(Bundling) creates a visual cohesion in stores that performs really well,” she explained. She also noted that retailers can be a “one-stop-shop” for customers by grouping related items together. For example, display birthday-related, or wedding-related, items together.
