‘Christmas Shoppe’ opens in downtown LeedsBy Jennifer BradyTheLeedsNews.net

Leeds, AL — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – at least in downtown Leeds. The Monkey’s Uncle has opened its Christmas Shoppe, a first for Leeds, across from Covenant Bank. Co-owner Tim Jennings said the shop has been great in many ways. “Well, first Leeds didn’t have [a Christmas shop] and second, we always do so much Christmas stuff every year at The Monkey’s Uncle, that we needed another location for all of it,” he said.

The Monkey’s Uncle Christmas Shoppe is a seasonal store and will close down in January, but Jennings said he hopes it will come around every year. “We hope to have a location each year to do this,” he said. “I think it’s a great addition to downtown Leeds.” The shop carries an assortment of Christmas-themed décor and gift ideas including ornaments, holiday foods, plates, platters, small and large trees and door hangers, just to name a few.

Jennings said the shop also carries items for football fans. “We do have a lot of Alabama and Auburn items, but we can get other major schools, too,” he said.

“We’ve got an order right now for a gentleman who wanted some Tennessee stuff.”

Jennings added that almost anything in the shop could be ordered as long as the vendor has them in stock, too. They use over 20 different companies and can place orders up to mid-December.
