Meet the Maker: P.L.A.Y.: Pet Lifestyle and You By Sam Ujvary

It takes real heart and soul to be in the pet industry. From leashes and grooming supplies to all the tricks and tips to keep your pet healthy, these companies understand that it takes a village. Gift Shop Pets caught up with some companies to find out why — and how they do what they do, and what makes them love it so much.

GSP: What can you tell our readers about the brand?

NH: P.L.A.Y., Pet Lifestyle and You, is the creator and designer of stylish and eco-friendly pet bedding and toys. Inspired by Momo, the Chief Pug Officer, as well as our office dogs, P.L.A.Y. strives to create pet products that are unique and tailored to meet the needs of discerning pet parents. Those not only looking for products that are great for their dogs and cats, but also tastefully designed for themselves and responsibly made from both environmental and social perspectives. Our product focuses are premium pet bedding and toys for both dogs and cats, as well as outdoor/active lifestyle and travel products for dogs.

GSP: What new products are you releasing this year?

NH: We are excited to share that P.L.A.Y. will be launching a new bedding line this June to cater to larger dogs looking for more support to relieve the daily pressures and stresses on their bodies. In addition to a new bedding line, we will be introducing our first ever cat toy collection, Feline Frenzy, which will feature eight sets of whimsical plush toys filled with USDA Organic Catnip. From barbeque favorites to crawly critters, every cool cat will want to play with these tempting toys.

We are also thrilled to announce a new co-branded line, SPIKED! by P.L.A.Y. set to debut at NY NOW. This collection is designed around Biff the Dog, a character- based brand with a PAWS-itively lovable vibe.

GSP: What’s your favorite thing about the pet industry?

NH: If I had to choose one, it would be the customers, both pet parents and their furry friends. Whenever I see a dog playing with one of our plush toys for the first time or snoozing safely in one of our comfy beds, the joy it brings to each pet parent’s face is priceless.
